"Halt in the name of the law!" Disney has unveiled the highly anticipated first full official trailer for "Zootopia 2," the long-awaited sequel to the beloved 2016 film "Zootopia." Initially met with skepticism upon its 2016 debut, "Zootopia" ultimately found a vast and adoring audience worldwide, prompting Disney to take nearly a decade to craft the perfect follow-up. Now, the sequel is set to hit theaters this November.
Detective Judy Hopps, voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin, and Nick Wilde, voiced by Jason Bateman, find themselves embarking on a perilous undercover mission to solve a mesmerizing case involving a mysterious reptile that has sent the mammal metropolis of Zootopia into chaos. With a star-studded voice cast that also includes Shakira reprising her role, alongside Idris Elba as Chief Bogo, Ke Huy Quan as Gary De'Snake, Fortune Feimster as Nibbles, and Quinta Brunson as Dr. Fuzzby in delightful new characters, the film promises a thrill ride through the ever-expanding world of Zootopia.
"It has been an immense pleasure to reunite with the talented actors who made the first film so memorable, and it's thrilling to expand the universe with our extraordinary new cast members," says the creative team. In "Zootopia 2," also known as "Zootropolis 2" and "Zoomania 2" in various territories, Judy and Nick's growing partnership is put to the ultimate test as they navigate unexpected corners of the city, uncovering secrets and facing challenges that will test their resolve.
Co-directed once again by animation veterans Byron Howard, who helmed "Bolt," "Tangled," and the original "Zootopia," and Jared Bush, who directed "Zootopia" and created "Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero," both of whom also contributed to "Encanto," the screenplay is penned by Bush, who wrote "Zootopia," "Moana," "Encanto," and the upcoming "Moana 2." Produced by Yvett Merino, the film is brought to life by Disney Animation Studios in Burbank.
