The veteran of the hit show 'Community' reminisced about a lively rivalry he had with his former co-star on the set, centered around their respective spice tolerance. In a captivating episode of 'Hot Ones,' Donald Glover revisited a behind-the-scenes moment shared with Joel McHale during their filming days. Glover recalled that during the show's inaugural season, he held McHale in high esteem, whose diet then consisted solely of espresso and eggs. "It was just that — literally," said Glover, "as he aimed to get in shape for a shirtless scene."

To enhance the flavor of his eggs, McHale would add hot sauce and encouraged Glover to follow suit, seasoning his own eggs with spice. Glover reminisced, "I started dousing everything with hot sauce, and soon, we were in a friendly battle, unknowingly boosting my tolerance for spicier fare." The actor and rapper expressed his gratitude to McHale for inadvertently preparing him for the spicy challenge ahead.

Throughout the 'Hot Ones' episode, Glover remained composed but encountered a significant hurdle midway. Confronted with the aptly named Da' Bomb Beyond Insanity, Glover exclaimed, "I don't like that," as the intense flavor left him struggling to focus on host Sean Evans' questions. However, his experience with the second-to-last sauce, High River Sauces' Peppers Up!, crafted with the fiery Apollo pepper, was quite different. "It's making me laugh," he said, contrasting it with the painful Da' Bomb. "This is crazy," he added, anticipating the next spicy challenge.

After taking a bite, Glover described the sensation as "like ayahuasca," evoking a sense of the spiritual journey often associated with the traditional Amazonian brew. Evans concurred, admitting that the spice had left him with a "head high" and a "weightlessness feeling" that was both euphoric and enjoyable. "I love it," the rapper concurred, clearly enjoying the spicy journey.

As they neared the final bottle, Glover revealed the secret to surviving 'Hot Ones'. "The key to the final one is that, by now, you know it's going to be okay," he said. "It's this crazy paradox — you start feeling okay, then reach a point where you think, 'I can't do this,' but then you push through and realize, 'Oh, I can fucking do anything.'" While fans eagerly await the 'Community' movie, Glover is closing the curtain on his rap alias, Childish Gambino, with his new album 'Bando Stone & the New World,' set to release on Friday.
