It seems as though Donna Kelce was as culpable as sin for nearly revealing the exciting news prematurely. Mere days before her son, Travis Kelce, and Taylor Swift made their engagement official, the 72-year-old subtly hinted that the Kansas City Chiefs' star tight end had made up his mind to embark on a lifelong journey with the "Cruel Summer" crooner. Indeed, during an episode of the "New Heights" podcast where Taylor joined Travis and his brother, Jason Kelce, Donna's cryptic comments seemed to suggest that this newfound bliss was part of the reason Travis appeared "so overjoyed." Speaking at the Aug. 24 premiere of ESPN's "The Kingdom," Donna shared with People, "I think his mind is at peace. That's pretty much all I can divulge."

While the family patriarchess refrained from spilling any more details, she was more than willing to offer a glimpse into her son's mental state during that time. "I believe he feels serene," she revealed, "as if he's on a mission, knowing precisely what he desires." Reflecting on Travis' record-breaking podcast episode featuring Taylor, Donna described it as "utterly memorable." "It was genuine, which everyone was thrilled to witness," she added. "There was an abundance of love."

Echoing her sentiments, Travis' father, Ed Kelce, echoed similar thoughts in a separate interview with People on Aug. 24, asserting that his son's radiant happiness during the podcast was undeniably due to Taylor. "There's no doubt about it," Ed emphasized. "It was delightful to see them engage in lively conversation. They are two individuals deeply in love."

On Aug. 26, Taylor and Travis, both aged 35, revealed their engagement through a joint social media post after dating for two years. Alongside snapshots capturing the NFL star proposing with an Artifex Fine Jewelry-designed, colossal diamond ring crafted by Kindred Lubeck, the pair captioned it, "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are tying the knot."

Travis' parents aren't the only ones rejoicing over this wonderful news. Several beloved friends and family members of the couple have extended their heartfelt congratulations, including Taylor's lifelong best friend, Abigail Anderson. Sharing the couple's joint post on her Instagram Story, Abigail simply captioned it with "This," accompanied by a red heart emoji, expressing her pure joy and excitement for the happy couple.
