On Wednesday, November 27th, Eric Murphy, Eddie's son, popped the question to Martin's daughter, Jasmin Lawrence, in a heartwarming scene captured in a video shared on Instagram three days later, on November 30th. Set to the romantic tune "Spend My Life with You" by Eric Benét, the engagement video opens with a glimpse of Eric meticulously decorating a room with candles, rose bouquets, and a floor strewn with flower petals. The camera then cuts to Jasmin's delighted reaction as she steps into the beautifully arranged setup for the first time.
Eric subsequently to drops one knee and presents the ring box, prompting Jasmin to exclaim, "It's beautiful. Oh my gosh," before joyfully accepting with a resounding "yes" and sharing a tender kiss with her voice actor beau.
In the caption of their joint Instagram post, Jasmin and Eric penned, "We're engaged!! God has truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny." They continued, "We couldn't be more thrilled for this exciting new chapter. A special thank you to everyone who made this moment so magical!"
Although the exact timeline of the comedy legends' children's romance remains somewhat of a mystery, they publicly debuted their relationship on Instagram in June 2021. Eric posted photos of the couple, captioning them, "Head over heels in LOVE with YOU," and adding hashtags like "#MyOtherHalf," "#EquallyYoked," and "#ILoveYou."
Weeks later, Jasmin posted a heartfelt birthday tribute to her then-boyfriend, calling him "my love" and declaring, "I'm incredibly blessed to know you, to love you, and to have you by my side."
Jasmin, who is pursuing an acting career just like her father, has also shared how she and Eric met. "It wasn't even our dads who introduced us, despite their two movies together and their friendship," she told InTouch Weekly in January 2022. Instead, it was her uncle who brought them together. "We became really close friends because we bonded over many things," she added about her now-fiancé, who is the eldest of Eddie's ten children. "And over time, it just evolved into something more."
Martin, 59, joked about the couple's romance during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in June 2022, playfully suggesting that their offspring might conceive "a comedy super-baby." "We haven't really discussed it," Martin said about himself and Eddie, 63. "We tend to stay out of their business, letting them handle their own affairs and respecting their choices."
