According to the Netflix release, "Las Encinas will swing open its doors for the very last time, revealing a new season of eight thrilling episodes filled with secrets, rivalries, corruption, and excess, all in the signature style of Élite." The series, set in a fictional high school, has followed the intricate relationships between three working-class students who attend the elite institution through a scholarship program and their wealthy peers.

Season 8 will shake the foundations of Las Encinas to its core with the arrival of Emilia and Héctor Krawietz, siblings and leaders of the school's alumni association. These influential and powerful figures, tainted with corruption and capable of corrupting others, will spread chaos wherever they go, destroying the lives of those who fall under their spell. Only Omar stands a chance against them, determined to do whatever it takes to see them fall, as they represent everything that has been wrong with Las Encinas from the start.

Created by Carlos Montero and Jaime Vaca, Season 8 boasts an ensemble cast including Omar Ayuso, André Lamoglia, Valentina Zenere, Mirela Balić, Gleb Abrosimov, Fernando Líndez, Nadia Al Saidi, Ander Puig, Carmen Arrufat, Mina el Hammani, Iván Mendes, and Maribel Verdú. The season also welcomes newcomers Ane Rot, Nuno Gallego, Alexandra Pino, and Mario Ermito, adding fresh faces to the already talented ensemble.

In October 2023, Montero confirmed that Season 8 would indeed be the final chapter. "We ended on a high note," he said. "Jaime [Vaca, co-showrunner for season 7], Netflix, and I all felt it was the right time to bring this journey to a close. It's with great regret that I say this, as these have been incredible years filled with wonderful actors, collaborations with all the directors we've dreamed of working with, and the privilege of having Maribel join us for the last two seasons. Élite has changed everyone's life, launching the careers of actors who started with us and are now global stars. It's a source of pride to have contributed to their success and to know that our show has been enjoyed by fans worldwide."
