Elle Fanning embodies an unapologetic approach to showcasing her vulnerability in front of the camera, with her latest Apple TV+ series, "Margo's Got Money Troubles," serving as a testament to this. Admitting to not being "very modest" in portraying on-screen nudity, Fanning reveals that she has previously graced such scenes, notably in Hulu's "The Great," where she portrayed Catherine the Great. "I feel like I sort of broke that barrier in 'The Great'," she candidly shares with People. "I was like, ‘I've already done this kind of thing.'"

Fanning asserts that rather than feeling discomfort, she is "really proud" of how her on-screen nudity in the show is portrayed. This pride stems from her journey into OnlyFans to raise financial support after becoming pregnant with her English professor. "I am genuinely proud of how the nudity is depicted in [Margo's Got Money Troubles], because it's not overly sexualized at all," she adds.
The 28-year-old actress further elaborates that the nudity in "Margo's Got Money Troubles" serves a deeper purpose beyond titillating the audience. "A lot of it actually revolves around the necessities of motherhood, the need to feed and breastfeed your child," she explains. "And then that's juxtaposed later when Margo turns to OnlyFans. It's a nice commentary on how her relationship with her body changes."
To achieve the authenticity of breastfeeding scenes, Fanning had to rely on prosthetics. "Most of the time, I had prosthetics to make [my boobs] look like breastfeeding boobs and milk that would squirt out of this contraption they had," she shares. "So I would be in the trailer, and they’d put them on, and then I would feel like, ‘OK, I’m just going to walk out.’ And I’m like, ‘Wait a second; this isn’t a shirt.'"
"Margo's Got Money Troubles" is now streaming on AppleTV+.
