Take note, everyone—Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are celebrating a momentous milestone. To honor their 17th wedding anniversary, Ellen has shared a charming snippet from their 2008 wedding, a highlight that was originally aired on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
"Happy 17th anniversary to the best day of my life," Ellen penned alongside the clip, her heart brimming with love. "Portia, I find myself loving you more with each passing day." Reflecting on their special day, which came just two months after same-sex marriage was legalized in California—a full seven years before it became a national right—Ellen added the poignant hashtag, "#MarriageForAll."

Amidst a year marked by significant transitions, the couple has recently relocated to the picturesque British countryside, where they've already established a cozy new routine. Speaking at a July 20 event with broadcaster Richard Bacon, Ellen, now 67, gushed about their newfound haven. "It's absolutely breathtaking," she enthused. "We're simply not accustomed to such enchanting beauty. The villages, towns, and architecture—everything you lay eyes on is charming, embodying a simpler, more serene way of life."
She continued, "It's pristine here. Everything feels just better—from the humane treatment of animals to the courteous demeanor of people. I'm utterly smitten with this place."
Yet, despite their serene life in the Cotswolds and Ellen's suggestion in her 2024 stand-up special that she was "done" with Hollywood, she hasn't entirely retreated from the limelight. During this rare public appearance, Ellen admitted she was "very thoughtfully" contemplating her next move.
"I'm still unsure what that entails," she teased. "I crave fun and fulfillment. I adore my chickens, but I'm feeling a tad bored." While she expressed a fondness for returning to talk shows, she doesn't believe it's a surefire option. "I'd do the same thing here," she noted, "but I sense that people are now glued to their phones, their attention divided by the deluge of information and entertainment flooding our screens."
