Elon Musk Finally Pulls the Plug on Kanye West’s Hate-Filled Twitter Account

Published: Feb 11 2025

After Kanye West spent the weekend unleashing a torrent of scurrilous and unimaginable vitriol on his Twitter account, even the famously tolerant Elon Musk seemingly reached his breaking point. Early Monday morning, Musk declared that West's account had been "classified as Not Safe for Work (NSFW)" and that the reach of his posts would be drastically curbed on timelines. Shortly thereafter, West announced his exit from the platform. "I'm signing off from Twitter," West penned. "I'm grateful to Elon for affording me the outlet to express myself. Using the world as my confessional has been profoundly cleansing, akin to an Ayahuasca journey. To all who lent me their energy and focus, my heartfelt thanks. Until we reconnect. Farewell until the morning light."

While there's no need to amplify the toxic content West was disseminating, those who have tracked his online presence over the past few years can likely surmise its nature. Yet, it wasn't his racist or antisemitic rants that seemed to push Musk over the edge. Rather, it was West's posting of explicit pornographic clips that finally sealed his fate on the platform.

For his part, West insists that his mental well-being remains untouched. "I wouldn't want anyone to stage an intervention for me," he stated calmly in a video posted on Sunday. "I'm in a good place, truly. I'm in a positive space, experiencing a therapeutic release."
