As moviegoers eagerly anticipate the IMAX epic "The Odyssey" by Christopher Nolan, some are already dissecting the film. Elon Musk has joined the chorus of voices questioning the writer/director's integrity in response to speculation that Lupita Nyong'o will portray Helen of Troy in the star-studded adaptation of Homer's epic poem, which premieres on July 17.

Musk responded to a comment arguing that the Helen in the book is "fair-skinned, blonde, and [the face that launched a thousand ships] because she was so beautiful that men started a war over her," calling the unconfirmed casting "an insult to the author." He directly targeted Nolan's integrity.
Despite Nyong'o joining the cast in November 2024, her character in "The Odyssey" has not yet been confirmed. An adaptation of one of the first stories in human history, "The Odyssey" follows Odysseus (Matt Damon) through incredible trials and mythical encounters as he embarks on a decade-long journey home to his wife Penelope after the Trojan War.
Premiering in IMAX on July 17, "The Odyssey" also stars an impressive ensemble including Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Jesse Garcia, Will Yun Lee, Rafi Gavron, Shiloh Fernandez, Mia Goth, and many more.
