Collins reprises her role as Emily, joined by an ensemble cast including Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, William Abadie, Lucien Laviscount, Eugenio Franceschini, Thalia Besson, Paul Forman, Arnaud Binard, Minnie Driver, Bryan Greenberg, and Michèle Laroque.

Amidst rumors swirling around his contract expiration at the end of season four, Bravo admitted that Gabriel's character arc left him questioning his return for season five. However, fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the actor has confirmed his return. He previously shared with The Hollywood Reporter his hopes for Gabriel's growth in season five, stating, "He made choices that caused me to distance myself from him. We were alike in season one, but now, I'm not so sure. I feel like he needs to get his act together."

Last season, the series took a romantic detour to Rome. Reflecting on the experience, Collins told The Hollywood Reporter at the season four premiere in L.A., "It was wonderful transitioning from Paris to Rome. You're still immersed in European romance and passion, but exploring a different historical facet was thrilling."

When the series shifted to Rome, it sparked a diplomatic spat, with French President Emmanuel Macron expressing his desire to "fight hard" to keep the hit comedy within French borders. In response, Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri told THR Roma, "Does President Macron have more pressing matters to attend to? I hope Macron was joking, for he should know that a production giant like Netflix doesn't bow to heads of state or yield to political pressure."
