Emma Roberts and Evan Peters, who have been on-and-off romantically involved since 2012, seemed to be cordial exes when they recently reunited on stage seven years after their breakup. The actors stood side by side during an American Horror Story presentation at the Walt Disney Company's 2026 upfront event on May 12 at New York's North Javits, an expansion of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Alongside their costars Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, Billie Lourd, and Gabourey Sidibe, Roberts and Peters announced the casting of Paul Anthony Kelly from Love Story in season 13 of the anthology horror series, which premieres this fall on FX and Hulu. The upcoming installment is reportedly a continuation of the American Horror Story: Coven storyline.

Roberts, 35, and Peters, 39, began their relationship after meeting on the set of the film Adult World in 2012. Following an alleged domestic violence dispute in 2013, the pair worked things out and eventually got engaged in 2014. "It was an unfortunate incident and misunderstanding," their representatives said in a joint statement to PEOPLE at the time, addressing Roberts' arrest. "Ms. Roberts was released after questioning, and the couple are working together to move past it."
The couple called off their engagement in June 2015 but reunited months later. They split again in 2016 but reconciled once more. However, they ultimately ended their relationship for good in 2019. In a June 2019 cover story with Cosmopolitan, Roberts opened up about her and Peters' split. "I think that no matter who you are or what you do or wherever in the world you are, anything ending is hard," she said. "Losing something is hard."
She also noted that she prefers to keep her personal life private. "I never want to talk about relationships I'm in or that are ending or have ended," she said. "It's hard enough to be with someone by yourself, let alone with an audience."
"Growing up is hard," she added. "Sometimes it makes me sad that I can't have a private moment. Because of Twitter and Instagram, there's a whole other element where everybody can comment on what you're doing, and no one knows the real story. That's hard."
After her split from Peters, Roberts went on to date Garrett Hedlund, who stars in Monster: The Ed Gein Story, and they welcomed a son, Rhodes, in December 2020. They ended their relationship in January 2022. She is now engaged to basketball player Cody John.
Peters briefly dated Halsey and has been recently linked to writer Natalie Engel. Both Peters and Roberts are set to return for AHS season 13. The actors are longtime collaborators of showrunner Ryan Murphy. Peters recently appeared in Murphy's thriller series The Beauty and won a Golden Globe for playing serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. He also played various disturbed characters in the AHS franchise.
Roberts has also starred in several seasons of American Horror Story and played the lead in the horror-comedy series Scream Queens. Peters recently said of AHS's upcoming 13th season, "First of all, it's working with Ryan again, but second of all, he's assembled the cast from all the different seasons," he told The Hollywood Reporter in January. "We're all getting back together to do this greatest-hits season. So we'll see what he writes and what it brings... I'm interested to see what the scenes are and how it all plays out."
