Danilo Gallinari's family encountered a harrowing underwater ordeal when the former NBA star's wife, Eleonora Boi, revealed she had been bitten by a shark in Puerto Rico—the very locale where Danilo plies his trade professionally. In an August 1st Instagram post accompanied by a selfie from her hospital bed, Eleonora recounted what she termed "the darkest day of my life."

"It never crossed my mind that I would be set upon by a shark, particularly so close to shore on a bustling beach," she penned. "Fortunately, my baby and I emerged unscathed."

Eleonora, who is anticipating her third child with Danilo, disclosed that prompt medical attention saved her and her unborn child from further peril. "I was swiftly rescued, and the surgery to mend my poor, bitten leg proved successful," she recounted. "Now, I must heal from the harrowing fright and strive to forgive the loyal friend who turned against me."

With a touch of humor amidst the dire situation, the sports journalist—who tied the knot with the Italian basketball sensation in 2021—jested to the shark, "You'll be hearing from my legal eagles soon."

Eleonora extended heartfelt thanks to her followers and shared a tender message for her husband, who missed out on a momentous occasion due to the incident. "I'm grateful to my husband, who, despite marrying the likes of Fantozzi-Boi, showers me with boundless love and immense courage," she said. "Today, he even missed the Bad Bunny concert, but he shouldn't harbor false hopes; it's merely a temporary setback."

The Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DRNA) acknowledged the incident but refrained from confirming the victim's identity. However, local newspaper El Nuevo Día reported Elenora's name and the incident, confirming that on July 31st, "The woman sustained an open wound to her thigh" during the attack at Carolina Resort.

According to DRNA biologist Nilda Jiménez, an investigation into Elenora's injury is underway to ascertain the shark species involved. "Based on the photographs provided, we believe the bite characteristics could align with those of a shark," Nilda stated in a translated remark to El Nuevo Día. "However, to validate this, a series of analyses are necessary. To this end, medical personnel have been requested to provide samples, which, if available, will be promptly analyzed."
