Wactor's brother, in a heartfelt confirmation to the local KTLA station, revealed that the 37-year-old actor was gunned down early Saturday morning in a robbery gone horribly wrong.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to Business Insider that at approximately 3:25 a.m. on Saturday, a victim was shot and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the LAPD, the victim was shot after confronting three suspects who were attempting to steal a catalytic converter. One of the suspects brandished a gun, fired at the victim, and fled the scene along with the other two perpetrators.

Although the LAPD could not officially confirm Wactor as the victim, a law enforcement source informed the Los Angeles Times of his identity.

The LA Medical Examiner's office did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.
