Glen Powell, the star of *Anyone But You*, has made a startling revelation about a role that nearly fell into his lap. During an appearance on Jake Shane’s *Therapuss* podcast this week, Powell disclosed that he once auditioned for the role of Sam Evans in the wildly popular American jukebox musical comedy-drama *Glee*, alongside his closest friend, Chord Overstreet—only to come up short in securing the part.

"One of my best buddies in the whole world is this guy, Chord Overstreet," Powell shared warmly. He recounted how he and Overstreet found themselves side by side in the audition room, both vying for the coveted role of Evans. The *Top Gun: Maverick* star elaborated, "We both auditioned for *Glee*. We both went for the same character... We were even in the waiting room together at the same time."

With a touch of wistfulness, Powell recalled, "We were neck and neck for Sam Evans, and he ended up getting it." Despite losing out on the project to the 36-year-old actor and musician, Powell harbored no resentment. Instead, he continues to regard Overstreet as "one of his closest friends."

The *Twisters* actor went on to reveal that their bond deepened after the *Glee* auditions when they decided to become roommates. "We moved in together as he embarked on this wild *Glee* journey—which was, like, totally insane," Powell recounted with a laugh during the podcast.

He continued, "It was pretty surreal to be around, because *Glee* was, at the time, the biggest show on the planet." The series, which aired for six seasons from 2009 to 2015, boasted a star-studded ensemble cast including Lea Michele, Naya Rivera, Mark Salling, Dianna Agron, Jane Lynch, Chris Colfer, and many others.
