Hailee Steinfeld is ensuring that her journey into motherhood is as seamless and perfect as possible. More than a month after announcing the birth of her and husband Josh Allen's baby girl, the Pitch Perfect actress has opened up about her postpartum journey, sharing how she's prioritizing her health as a new mom.
"My amazing doula has imparted so much knowledge on postpartum nutrition," Hailee wrote in a May 15 post shared to her Substack Beau Society. "In general, she advised me to stick to warm foods during my postpartum recovery to aid digestion and enhance nutrient absorption, a philosophy that stems from Ayurveda."
"Knowing this, my mom made me this amazing albondigas soup the other day," she added alongside a photo of the dish. "It's one of those rare soups that looks as good as it tastes."
As for what she's been reading lately, the Sinners actress praised Heng Ou's postpartum cookbook The First 40 Days, sharing that it's made a notable impact on her motherhood journey so far.
"Every word has resonated," Hailee wrote. "There's a paragraph early on that talks about how even forty days after giving birth, you're still in such a vulnerable state. People understand that about your new baby, but they don’t understand that about you, the mom."
While the 29-year-old continues to navigate this new chapter, she's trying her best to go easy on herself.
"I'm still in this early period," she wrote, "and need to remember to be super gentle with myself in every way — physically, mentally, nutritionally, spiritually, all of it."
Hailee and Josh announced that the Oscar nominee had given birth to their first baby with a post on her Beau Society Substack. "Our baby girl has arrived!!" the couple—who tied the knot in 2025—shared in the April 2 post. "We’re feeling incredibly grateful and blessed and savoring these early moments. Thank you so much for the love and well wishes."
And Hailee has already marked another special milestone as she celebrated her first Mother's Day as a mom earlier this month. "A day late," she captioned a May 11 Instagram post, "but simply obsessed with this." The Dickinson actress shared the first photos of her and Josh's baby girl, including a sweet snap of her holding a finger, along with her feet within a newborn onesie.
