Halle Berry divulged in a captivating interview with ComicBook an intriguing tale of a near-miss for a legendary X-Men reunion. She revealed that Blake Lively, with genuine enthusiasm, once approached her about reprising her iconic role as the formidable Storm, a.k.a. Ororo Munroe, from the beloved X-Men franchise. However, fate had other plans as Ryan Reynolds, the charismatic Deadpool himself and co-creator of the upcoming film, failed to extend the invitation further.

"Alas, no," Berry, the timeless 58-year-old actress, elegantly responded when queried about potential cameo talks with Marvel. At the glitzy premiere of her latest Netflix venture, The Union, on August 12, Berry shared, "Blake did inquire about it, quite casually at a Marc Jacobs fashion spectacle. She asked, 'Would you grace my husband's film as Storm once more?' I eagerly replied, 'Absolutely, if the offer comes my way,' but alas, it never did."

Berry's Storm had graced several X-Men adventures alongside Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, who now returns to the Marvel spotlight in the blockbuster. This film serves as a heartfelt homage to the groundbreaking Marvel movies of the 2000s to 2010s era, under 20th Century Fox, filled with nostalgic cameos from heroes predating the MCU.

Chris Evans reprises his fiery Johnny Storm/Human Torch from Fantastic Four, Jennifer Garner returns as the enigmatic Elektra from Daredevil, Wesley Snipes slices in as Blade, and Dafne Keen reprises Laura/X-23 from Logan. Even Channing Tatum makes a cameo as Gambit, a character he was destined to portray before Disney's acquisition of Fox altered the course.

Ryan Reynolds, via an emotional Instagram post in July, expressed, "This isn't merely Deadpool nodding to the MCU; it's us—Deadpool, Hugh, Shawn [Levy, the director], and I—bidding adieu to a world and an era that forged us. We're eternally grateful to 20th Century Fox's eccentric, daring universe that birthed us. It's our origin story, and we cherish it deeply. And to Kevin Feige and Disney, thank you for allowing us to share this journey."

Berry, too, has expressed her longing to revisit Storm's domain. "Without hesitation, I'd embrace the opportunity," she told Vanity Fair in 2021, her eyes sparkling with nostalgia. "Storm holds a special place in hearts, mine included. If a compelling narrative arises, I'm all in, absolutely."
