Speculation among fans quickly reached fever pitch that a fresh Hollywood love story might be in the making between Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, following their sighting together in Texas over the past weekend. However, a reliable source has stepped in to set the record straight.
According to snapshots shared by the celebrity gossip Instagram page DeuxMoi, the former co-stars of "Anyone But You" were spotted at a Dallas restaurant, where they were attending the rehearsal dinner for Powell's sister Leslie's wedding. (Interestingly, Leslie also contributed to the making of "Anyone But You.") This encounter transpired just days after reports emerged that Sweeney had called off her wedding to restaurateur Jonathan Davino, whom she had been engaged to since 2022.
A TMZ insider revealed that Sweeney had RSVP'd to the wedding months prior to her engagement ending and attended Leslie's nuptials accompanied by her best friend, not Powell. Sweeney is reportedly "very good friends with the Powell family," and in particular, she has maintained a "very close" bond with Leslie "for a long time."
This isn't the first instance where Powell and Sweeney have been entangled in dating rumors. While promoting their 2023 romantic comedy, the actors admitted to embracing the buzz to fuel interest in their film. "The two essential elements to sell a rom-com are fun and chemistry," Powell previously told The New York Times. "Sydney and I have a blast together, and our chemistry is effortless. That's what people crave—seeing what's on screen translate off-screen. Sometimes, you just have to lean into it a bit—and it worked wonders. Sydney is incredibly intelligent."
Sweeney also addressed the rumors in a 2023 interview with Variety, stating, "It's a rom-com. That's precisely what people want! Glen and I don't really mind. We have a fantastic time together, and we have immense respect for each other."
