The hearts of Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus, once achy and broken, have now mended with grace. Following the reconciliation of their public family rift earlier this year, the country singer, at the age of 64, poured his love for his daughter on her 33rd birthday.
On her special day, the Grammy winner shared a glimpse into her party with two black and white solo shots—a white cake adorned with berries and a candle—writing, "At 33, I'm already burning bright, thanks to the warmth of your sweet birthday wishes. All I want this year is more laughter with the people who give me those little smile lines that are starting to show. I love you all."

In the comment section, Billy shared his own birthday wish for his daughter, simply stating, "Happy birthday Smiley Miley!" As Miley turns 33, it seems her dad will once again be listed among the people who bring her those cherished smile lines, even if their relationship has been tumultuous in the past. Their familial struggles became public when Billy and her mother Tish Cyrus divorced in 2022, with Miley explaining on the Reclaiming podcast in June that she had a "lot of loyalty" to her mom, which led to a "really difficult" period of family separation.
Indeed, the rift with her dad formed when she "took on some of my mom’s hurt" amid the divorce, she told The New York Times in May. However, as she continues to mature, she is learning to "love them both as individuals instead of as a parental pairing." This year, Miley finally feels "at peace."
"My dad and I have had our challenges over the years," the former star of Hannah Montana wrote on her Instagram Story in May. "Now, in my thirties, family is my priority above all else. I'm at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing. Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family."
Miley further solidified their reconciliation by writing her dad a song for his birthday titled "Secrets." "For my birthday, Miley gave me the gift of music and wrote me a song called 'Secrets' and got my favorite musicians Fleetwood Mac to play on it!" Billy Ray wrote on his Instagram post at the time. "I love you Mile."
