Travis Clark's past remarks about Katie Bates are now coming to light. Three months prior to his confession that he had an affair during his marriage, the Bringing Up Bates alum showered his wife - who recently suffered a devastating pregnancy loss while expecting their third child - with heartfelt praise in a social media tribute to mark her 25th birthday. He called her "the easiest person in the world to celebrate."
"You love so deeply, give so much of yourself to everything you do, and somehow make every season we're in feel special," he wrote on Instagram in October alongside a video that showed him and Katie on a trip to the U.K. "From the first day I met you, I knew there was something different about you... and I was right."
These loving remarks resurfaced at a difficult time for the couple, who wed in 2021 and share two children - Hailey, 2, and Harvey, 15 months. Recently, Katie shared her heartbreaking miscarriage with the world.
In a Jan. 16 Instagram video, Katie recounted the joyous milestones of learning she was expecting, including the moment she revealed her positive pregnancy test to her husband. However, the video also touched on the deep sorrow of grieving her loss. At one point, the reality star held hands with a loved one as she tearfully lay in a hospital bed, whispering, "I just lost my baby."
Katie also paid tribute to her late child in her caption, writing, "I will spend the rest of my life missing you." The following day, Travis came forward to address his infidelity, acknowledging that there was "no excuse for what I did."
"This is hard to write, but I owe the truth and I owe an apology," the 24-year-old wrote in a Jan. 17 Instagram Stories post. "This was my failure and my responsibility alone. I know that words don't begin to express the damage I caused or the depth of the hurt I've brought into her life, but I am truly sorry."
Travis also shared that he is "getting help and doing the work to change," adding, "I ask for privacy and grace for Katie as she processes this in her own time."
