Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas triumphantly secured the album of the year (pop) accolade for their captivating work, "Hit Me Hard and Soft," while Taylor Swift was crowned artist of the year at the prestigious iHeartRadio Music Awards, which glitteringly unfolded on Monday evening. Among the other stars shining brightly on the night were Benson Boone, SZA, GloRilla, Sabrina Carpenter, and Green Day, who also added honors to their respective repertoires.
The iHeartRadio Music Awards serve as a grand celebration of the artists and tracks that resonated most profoundly across iHeartRadio stations and its app throughout 2024, while also offering a tantalizing glimpse into the upcoming hits poised to dominate 2025. Taylor Swift emerged as a standout winner, amassing an impressive total of eight awards, with her Eras Tour being lauded as the tour of the century. The ceremony also featured an exclusive, mesmerizing performance from the opening night of Swift’s Eras Tour.
The 12th annual spectacle, which aired live on Fox from the iconic Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, also paid homage to musical legends Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, and Nelly with special awards. Carey was honored with the Icon Award, Gaga received the Innovator Award, Nelly was bestowed the Landmark Award, and Gracie Abrams was recognized as the Breakthrough Artist of the Year.
LL Cool J returned for his second stint as host, with thrilling performances from an array of stars including Bad Bunny, Billie Eilish, GloRilla, Gracie Abrams, Kenny Chesney, Muni Long, Nelly, and others.
In a heartfelt gesture, the iHeartRadio Music Awards also extended their support to Los Angeles, acknowledging the devastating wildfires earlier this year and encouraging donations to Fireaidla.org. Contributions to FireAid will be distributed under the wise counsel of the Annenberg Foundation.
This year, the nominations introduced five innovative, socially voted awards: favorite soundtrack, favorite Broadway debut, favorite surprise guest, favorite tour tradition, and favorite K-pop dance challenge.
Joel Gallen of Tenth Planet, alongside John Sykes, Tom Poleman, and Bart Peters of iHeartMedia, served as executive producers for the iHeartRadio Music Awards.
