Eric Dane harbors an aspiration to maintain a prominent spot on the call sheet for as long as his endeavors permit. Since the revelation in April that he was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), the Grey's Anatomy alum has been candid about his journey, unwavering in his resolve to continue acting. "I'm going to ride this till the wheels fall off," Dane shared with E! News during a joint interview with Countdown costar Jensen Ackles in June. "It keeps me sharp. It keeps me moving forward, which is super important right now."

Beyond his new Prime Video series and reprising his role as Cal Jacobs in the third and final season of Euphoria, Dane is also set to guest star in the second season of NBC's Brilliant Minds, portraying a firefighter battling ALS. While he is realistic about the challenges ahead, he maintains a positive outlook on his future, both on and off the screen. "I don’t think this is the end of my story," Dane told Diane Sawyer during an interview with Good Morning America in June. "In my heart, I just don’t feel like this is the end of me. I’m fighting as much as I can."

As The Last Ship star continues his battle, he cherishes quality time with his two daughters, Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13, and relies on the support of his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, who filed to dismiss their 2018 divorce in March. "I call Rebecca. I talk to her every day," Dane explained to Sawyer. "We have managed to become better friends and better parents, and she is probably my biggest champion and my most stalwart supporter, and I lean on her."

Despite facing hurdles, such as his inability to attend the 2025 Emmys in September due to a hospital stay, Dane remains determined. His Grey's Anatomy costar Jesse Williams shared their strong bond both on and off screen during the ceremony. "We had a really great run," Williams told Heather McMahan on Live From E!, "The plastics posse. We had a great following, and I loved working with him. You know, on and off screen, that's my brother."
