At every NFL stadium, Travis Kelce makes sure to reserve a seat for Taylor Swift. While the "Cruel Summer" songstress is often spotted arriving at Arrowhead Stadium to cheer on her fiancé during Kansas City Chiefs games, her absence on September 14 left fans pondering her whereabouts. However, putting an end to any speculation, a source confirmed to E! News that Taylor was indeed present at the Chiefs' season-opening home game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
This football milestone arrives nearly a month after Taylor and Travis, both 35, announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post on August 26, captioning it, "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married." Indeed, Taylor owes more than just Travis's employment to the Kansas City Chiefs; the team also played a part in bringing the couple together.
As Taylor recounted on an episode of the New Heights podcast hosted by Travis and his brother, Jason Kelce, head coach Andy Reid may have had a hand in introducing the pair. "Whatever Andy Reid says, we're gonna stand by," the singer-songwriter remarked. "That's what happened." Taylor revealed that her father, Scott Swift, has been a longtime friend of Andy's, with the football coach having attended several of her concerts. "I didn't really know what sports he was involved in, but I knew he was my dad's friend Andy Reid," she noted. "I now recognize him as the most iconic, legendary coach of all time."
Ultimately, Andy "vouched" for Travis—and following Travis's bold move to express his interest on New Heights in 2023, a host of Taylor's family and friends also sang his praises. "My cousins were like, 'Please, please, please, he's amazing,'" she added. "There were so many people whispering in my ear about you, and that's not normal. There are people just willing to go to bat for you."
But what ignited the spark for the "Love Story" artist? During her podcast debut, she shared that one of the qualities that attracted her to the Kansas City tight end was his patience as she delved into the world of football. "You're so nonjudgmental about people, and you weren't judgmental about the fact that I knew nothing about the world you were in," she told Travis. "I didn't know what a first down was. I didn't know what a tight end was."
Travis echoed the same sentiment, responding, "I am forever thankful for you diving into the football world whole-heartedly."
But Taylor didn't just grasp the basics. "I became obsessed with it," she said. "My friends were like, 'Who body-snatched you?'"
