Jamie Lee Curtis has recently shed light on the reasoning behind the 22-year hiatus preceding the sequel to "Freaky Friday." The esteemed American actress graced the stage of BBC's "The One Show," where she delved into the extensive period that elapsed between the two films' releases. "The reality is, Lindsay had to attain an age where it was plausible for her to have a 15-year-old daughter," confessed the 66-year-old actress. She continued, recalling frequent inquiries about the movie, "People would inquisitively bring it up time and again."
The "True Lies" star then shared, "It wasn't until someone in Australia finally said, 'Well, she is,' that I responded with bewilderment, 'What do you mean?' Having known her as that young girl, I hadn't kept track of her age." With a hint of excitement in her voice, Jamie added, "Someone enlightened me, and I thought, 'Oh! Perhaps now we can make the movie. Let's embark on this journey!'"
For those unfamiliar, Lindsay was but a teenager when she first embodied Anna Coleman in "Freaky Friday," starring alongside Jamie as her on-screen mother, Tess Coleman. However, two decades later, moviegoers will witness the iconic duo switching lives once more, albeit with a twist—this time involving a quadruple role reversal.
In the meantime, "Freakier Friday" is gearing up for its cinematic debut on August 8, promising audiences a thrilling return to the beloved franchise.
