Jeffrey Wright Joins Michael Fassbender in 'The Agency' at Showtime

Jeffrey Wright has gracefully stepped into the star-studded cast of the highly anticipated political thriller series "The Agency" on Paramount+ and Showtime. As exclusively revealed by Variety, the series is helmed by the illustrious Michael Fassbender, portraying Martian, a clandestine CIA operative. George Clooney adds his esteemed touch as executive producer. Wright will embody the role of Henry, the CIA's director of operations overseeing covert agents, and a guiding light for Martian.

Inspired by the hit French series "The Bureau," which captivated audiences on Canal+ from 2015 to 2020, "The Agency" follows Martian as he is summoned to abandon his undercover life and return to London Station. Amidst the rekindling of an old love, his professional life, true identity, and mission are put to the test, leading them both into a perilous game of international intrigue and espionage.

Wright, who recently starred as Thelonious "Monk" Ellison in the 2023 film "American Fiction," will soon make his mark in Season 2 of HBO's "The Last of Us" and alongside Denzel Washington in Spike Lee's "High and Low" for A24 and Apple Original Films. His illustrious career began with a stellar performance in Tony Kushner's Broadway hit "Angels in America" and its subsequent HBO adaptation, with other notable credits spanning "Shaft," "Syriana," "Westworld," "Boardwalk Empire," and various collaborations with Wes Anderson.

Diaz (Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios), David C. Joe Wright directs and executive produces the initial two episodes.
