Jenna Ortega on Why She Really Left ‘Scream’ Franchise

In the grand tapestry of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Jenna Ortega has already woven a tiny but significant thread. During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, where the host expressed hope for bringing Ortega into the MCU fold, the Wednesday actress revealed a little-known fact: "I've actually been there, done that." She reminisced about her cameo in 2013's Iron Man 3, saying, "It marked one of my very first steps into the industry. Unfortunately, my lines didn't make the cut. I blink and I'm gone in Iron Man 3, just a fleeting glimpse as the vice president's daughter, barely visible with one leg in frame."

Joining in on the conversation, her Death of a Unicorn co-star and MCU veteran Paul Rudd expressed his optimism. "Marvel is masterful at planting seeds," he noted. "There's always a chance you might return. They should jump at the opportunity to create something specifically for you, Jenna Ortega, in their storied franchise."

However, the Beetlejuice star remained unfazed. "They even omitted my name from the credits," she added with a touch of humor. "I took it as a lesson learned and moved forward."

From her fleeting moment in Iron Man 3 at the tender age of 11, Ortega has carved a niche for herself, starring in numerous projects, including the Scream franchise and the smash-hit Netflix series Wednesday. Iron Man 3, headlined by Robert Downey Jr., follows Tony Stark as his world is ravaged by the Mandarin, a menacing terrorist, setting off a journey of reconstruction and revenge. The film went on to amass over $1.2 billion at the global box office, cementing its legacy.
