Jenna Ortega has returned to the classroom, albeit metaphorically, as she reprises her iconic role in the second season of "Wednesday." The enigmatic Addams family member once again steps into the halls of Nevermore Academy, but this time, darkness looms over the Gothic boarding school. In a chilling trailer released on July 9th, Wednesday foresees her roommate, Enid (portrayed by Emma Myers), meeting a grim fate. "Enid dies," she solemnly confesses to her mother, Morticia Addams (played by Catherine Zeta-Jones), "and it’s all my fault."
Despite her character's famously stoic demeanor, Jenna's Wednesday embarks on a mission to thwart her friend's predicted doom. "Secrets are the cornerstone of the Addams family," she asserts. "The quicker I uncover the truth, the sooner I can rescue Enid—or perish in the attempt."
Earlier in March, Jenna hinted that season two of the Netflix series held "some of my most cherished footage," revealing that executive producer Tim Burton "truly had a blast" during production. "Everything is vividly graphic," she shared with E! News, adding, "It’s exhilarating and motivating to collaborate with someone like him who ignites enthusiasm for every shot you undertake daily."
The actress noted that immersing herself in a single character for months could be challenging. "Sometimes, it feels like a arduous journey to the finish line," she continued, "but Tim consistently keeps things thrilling, making it difficult to tire of a character as compelling as Wednesday."
Adding to the anticipation is Lady Gaga's long-awaited guest appearance in the upcoming season, described by Luis Guzmán (aka Gomez Addams) as "madness." "They kept me away from Lady Gaga because I’m such a superfan," he confessed to E! News in May. "I’m thrilled she joined us, and apparently, she’s a huge fan of the show too. I love that she wanted to share her artistic brilliance with us."
"Wednesday" season two premieres in two installments on Netflix, with part one debuting on August 6th and part two following on September 3rd. Stay tuned for more TV premiere dates of new and upcoming shows.
