Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Are Officially Divorced and Single

Published: Feb 24 2025

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck officially divorced and transitioned into singlehood on Friday, marking the end of their marital journey. On January 6th, a judge from the Los Angeles Superior Court greenlit their divorce settlement, stipulating that it would come into force on February 21st, after the mandatory six-month waiting period in California elapsed since Lopez initiated the dissolution of their two-year union. The court document revealed that they had amicably resolved their differences through mediation in September, bypassing the protracted legal battles that have characterized other celebrity splits.

With this milestone, Lopez legally shed the Affleck surname from her moniker. While the majority of the financial specifics remained confidential, it was disclosed that neither party would owe the other alimony, and their union had been childless, thereby rendering custody a non-issue.

The power couple tied the knot in July 2022 amidst much fanfare, only for Lopez to file for divorce in August 2024, citing a separation that had transpired over a year prior. This was a redux of sorts for the pair, who had previously been an item in the early 2000s. They had met, fallen in love, got engaged, and starred alongside each other in the infamous films 'Gigli' and 'Jersey Girl' in 2004. However, they parted ways later that year, partly citing the overwhelming scrutiny of the public eye.

To the delight of numerous fans—and perhaps to the astonishment of others—they rekindled their romance two decades later and exchanged vows once more. Affleck had previously divorced Jennifer Garner, the mother of his three children, in 2018. Lopez, on the other hand, has been married four times and shares twins with singer Marc Anthony.
