Jill Duggar Shares Moving Tribute to Late Daughter on What Would’ve Been Her First Birthday

Jill Duggar is paying tribute to her beloved daughter who passed away too soon. On what would have been Isla Marie Dillard's first birthday, the former star of "19 Kids and Counting" shared a heartfelt message and video on Instagram on August 25th, remembering her daughter who sadly died in utero while Jill was four months pregnant in April 2024.

"This August marks a time that should have been filled with joy and celebration," wrote the 33-year-old. "We envisioned a festive first birthday bash for her, adorned with a smash cake and everything pink."

Continuing her emotional tribute, Jill said, "Instead, we replaced her pink grave flowers with fresh ones and took a somber walk around the cemetery with our boys, imagining how she would have been toddling alongside her big brothers, loved deeply and perhaps teased just a little [smile emoji]."

The slideshow posted by Jill showed her, her husband Derick Dillard, and their sons Frederick, 3, Samuel, 8, and Israel, 10, gathered at the cemetery.

"I am eternally grateful for the four precious months we had the honor of carrying our sweet girl," she added. "In Isla Marie's honor, please find helpful support information in the description below."

In the caption, Jill revealed that she and Derick are still searching for answers regarding their loss, before sharing resources and statistics for those who have also experienced the heartbreak of losing a baby.

"We remain unsure of the exact cause of our loss," she explained. "After extensive testing, it was concluded that the most probable cause was an undetected subchorionic hematoma/hemorrhage that likely would not have changed the outcome, despite being discovered later."

Previously, Jill had commemorated her late daughter on the one-year anniversary of learning about her loss. "One year ago this morning, we were preparing for our daughter's delivery, having learned just days prior that she had joined Jesus in heaven," she wrote on Instagram in March. "Derick's mom was caring for our boys, while my mom drove us to the hospital, where a couple of my sisters and a friend joined us."

"We are incredibly grateful for all those who, though not pictured, enveloped us in their arms and prayers," she continued. "They continue to support us as we traverse this challenging path that no one ever wishes to walk."
