Recently, Jim Hanks, the brother of Hollywood legend Tom Hanks, revealed a fascinating insight into his own contributions to the beloved franchise, Toy Story. In the absence of his famous sibling, Jim has been stepping in to lend his voice to the iconic Sheriff Woody, the cowboy from the 1995 American animated adventure comedy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures.

Appearing on the latest episode of the Love it Film podcast, Jim candidly shared that he has voiced Woody in numerous supportive projects on behalf of his brother, including video games, merchandise, and shorts. The 64-year-old actor and filmmaker reminisced, "The first thing I ever did was one of the pull-string toys from the first movie where he's saying 'You're my favorite deputy' and 'There's a snake in my boot' and stuff like that." He further added, "They had processed the voice so much that they needed a cleaner [version], so I come in and do it."
Jim candidly admitted that playing Woody has been an "immensely" amazing opportunity for him. He made sure to stay "as true to the character as possible" while stepping into his brother's shoes. It's worth noting that Toy Story had an ensemble cast to voice different characters, including Wallace Shawn, Annie Potts, Tim Allen, John Ratzenberger, Jim Varney, Andrew Stanton, Estelle Harris, and many others.
