Joe Jonas, a mere mortal among us, couldn't help but to retort after a snarky critic trolled the release of the teaser trailer for Camp Rock 3, wondering if the Jonas Brothers had only signed on because they desperately needed the cash. In reposting the Disney clip, the user inquired, "Is the Jonas Brothers in serious debt or something?" Joe, who stars alongside his brothers Nick and Kevin in the third installment, quipped back with a wink to the film, "God forbid Connect 3 goes back to where Connect 3 connected."

Disney treated fans to a sneak peek of the fictional band Connect 3's big moment returning to their roots in a teaser trailer on December 4. In the clip, Shane Gray (Joe), Nate (Nick), and Jason (Kevin) approach an empty Camp Rock lakefront as "Wouldn't Change a Thing" plays in the background. "We're back," Shane exclaims. "Exactly where we're supposed to be." Adding to his character's wish for camp, Jason quips, "Still no birdhouse."
In September, Disney shared more details of the third film in the franchise—executive produced by former Camp Rock star Demi Lovato—which will focus on a gang of new talented young campers played by Liamani Segura, Malachi Barton, and Lumi Pollack. However, the film will also feature a familiar face as Maria Canals-Barrera reprises her role as Connie Torres, now the owner of the camp.
"The story picks up when Connect 3 lose their opening act for a major reunion tour, returning to their beloved Camp Rock to discover the next big thing," a press release read. "As campers vie for the chance to open for their favorite band, tensions rise and friendships are tested, leading to unexpected alliances, revelations, and romances."
For the "Sucker" singers—currently on tour celebrating 20 years of Jonas Brothers—returning to set brought back all the feels. "I was flooded with emotion again," Joe told People in an interview published December 3. "I was like, 'Oh man. I didn't expect to be hit like this.'"
However, filming the movie made Joe, Nick, and Kevin realize something major about their characters. "We didn't know and still don't," Nick shared. "If Connect 3 are brothers or not." Kevin hinted at the possibility, saying, "There's like a reference maybe to it, but then there wasn't in the first one." Ultimately for Nick, it worked out as they had the chance to reconnect with a major chapter in their careers. "It's brilliant," he quipped. "I think it's hilarious. The lore is great. It's a little confusing but it's great. I'm really proud of this chapter of our life and being able to be part of a Disney franchise. We're honored to pass the torch on to a whole new gang of campers."
