Joe Jonas's love for his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift remains unrequited, even after nearly two decades since their fleeting 2008 romance. In an interview with Esquire published on October 20th, the Jonas Brothers member shared his positive feedback on her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl. "I've heard some of it," he said. "She's obviously the biggest artist out there, and I think it's good."
While fans scrutinized the album's most notable lyrics, Joe chose to focus on the musical composition. "Everybody's got an opinion about it," he continued. "But from what I've heard, there are some catchy melodies." Despite their dramatic breakup—famous for her revelation that he ended their romance in a 27-second phone call—Joe and Taylor have eventually put the past behind them. "I'm cool with Taylor. We're cool," he said on the Armchair Expert podcast in May 2023. "It's been many, many years removed."
Taylor, now engaged to Travis Kelce, later expressed remorse for putting Joe on blast on national television. "That was too much," she said during an appearance on Ellen in May 2019. "I was 18. We laugh about it now but that was mouthy." However, the relationship did have a silver lining for Taylor. She formed a friendship with Selena Gomez, who had been dating Nick Jonas around the same time. "She and I like to say the best thing we got out of those relationships was each other because it was really sweet," Selena recalled on the Therapuss podcast in August. "I was about 15, she was about 18, and that's when it was crazy curly Taylor and she had all these bracelets."
Indeed, their shared experience evolved into a lasting bond. "At that age we became best friends—bonded over the breakup, as girls do," Selena shared. "And then we just stuck around for all the ups and downs that came after, and here we are now 16 years later."
