John Mulaney strides confidently into another year by his wife Olivia Munn's side. Last July, the duo tied the knot, and to celebrate John's 43rd birthday on August 26, they chose an exhilarating venue: the third day of the US Open. At New York City's Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, John and Olivia, parents to the adorable Malcolm, 3, and the infant Méi, just 11 months old, walked hand-in-hand in matching pristine white attire.

As they settled into their seats, the pair was immediately engrossed in the intense match between tennis sensation Coco Gauff and her competitor Ajla Tomljanovic. The crowd couldn't help but be entertained by John's animated reactions, captured vividly in videos shared across social media. The comedian's concern for Coco's fate in the three-set, nearly three-hour battle was palpable. When the jumbotron flashed their faces amidst the excitement, the spectators erupted in wild cheers.

Indeed, John and Olivia have weathered their share of storms, including John's journey through sobriety while supporting Olivia through her breast cancer fight. Recalling a poignant moment during a May episode of Ted Danson's "Where Everybody Knows Your Name" podcast, John said, "I remember one day she was in bed, recovering from a grueling 10-hour double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery, with more procedures ahead."

"I brought her a tray with apple juice and a dish her mom had made in the kitchen," he continued. "On it were Oxycodone, nerve medication, and a Xanax, prescribed for rest and recovery. At that time, so focused on Olivia's well-being, I didn't even think twice about holding those pills. I walked away thinking, 'It never crossed my mind that I was handling these medications.' The obsession was gone. I realized, 'I've come so far; I can be a devoted caretaker without temptation.'"

However, when Olivia first received her diagnosis in April 2023, John, who had embarked on his sobriety journey after a relapse three years prior, wasn't as confident in his ability to maintain a sober lifestyle. "I admit, it's a monumental shift," he said. "A whole new perspective on life. I'm amazed I did it. That I could become sober and stick to it in every way. There's nothing wrong or shameful about relapse, but I'm always surprised when sobriety sticks."
