Joss Stone bares her soul, revealing a harrowing chapter from her life. The melodious voice behind SuperHeavy recently opened up about her own brush with an abusive relationship, prompted by a poignant fan query for an upcoming episode of her "A Cuppa Love" podcast. So deeply did she resonate with the message that she couldn't wait to immortalize her response.
"It read, 'I'm ready to leave him—help,'" Joss elaborated in an Instagram post dated August 17, revealing that the mere act of reading it caused her to "catch her breath."
Previewing an unreleased segment where her guest, Rabbi Shais Taub, advised the anonymous listener to nurture themselves as they would their own flesh and blood, the Grammy-awarded artist further illuminated why she felt compelled to address the query without delay.
"I was entangled in a relationship much like that," Joss confessed in another post. "I attempted to sever ties countless times, but each escape attempt seemed to escalate the peril."
The 38-year-old then painted a vivid picture of a harrowing incident where her former partner left her soaking wet in the rain, clad only in a T-shirt, before cleverly manipulating her into returning after she had fled for safety.
"My ability to finally walk away from him stemmed from my life as a touring musician," Joss recounted. "I'd embark on tours for work and made the decisive choice never to return. That part was relatively straightforward."
The mother of four, who tied the knot with Cody DaLuz in 2023, stressed that ghosting her partner was the sole means through which she could truly secure her freedom.
"There's no need for nobility or kindness to confront him face-to-face," she added. "I've tried that numerous times, and it proved extremely hazardous."
In the caption of the same post, the singer of "Right to Be Wrong" elaborated on her motivation to share such an intimate tale.
"I'm sharing this narrative to emphasize that we are not islands amidst this sea of suffering; unfortunately, it's astonishingly prevalent," she penned. "Don't allow it to define you, don't let it extinguish your radiant spirit. Only a coward abuses a woman. He is脆弱, you are resilient. That's precisely why he endeavors to diminish you. Men who abuse women are pathetic excuses for human beings. Period."
Addressing the fan who reached out, she added, "It's time to embark on your journey. Pack your bags, devise a plan, and execute it with elegance, composure, and precision."
