Bidding farewell to Judge Frank Caprio, adored by countless fans, the heartwarming TV jurist who made his mark on the small screen through the beloved courtroom series, Caught in Providence, has passed away at the age of 88 after a prolonged and courageous battle against pancreatic cancer, as announced by his family.
"Judge Caprio, beloved for his boundless compassion, humble demeanor, and unshakeable faith in humanity's inherent goodness, left an indelible imprint on millions of lives through his judicial work and beyond," read an August 20th post on his Instagram page. "His warm embrace, infectious humor, and gentle kindness have etched themselves into the hearts of all who knew him."
The post further highlighted that this esteemed television personality, who garnered a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Daytime Personality in 2024, would forever be remembered for the "countless gestures of kindness he inspired in others."
"In his honor, let us endeavor to infuse the world with a little more compassion each day," the message continued, accompanied by heartfelt photos of Caprio with his loved ones. "Just as he did, with unwavering dedication, throughout his life."
Caprio, who also served as the Chief Judge of the Municipal Court of Providence, Rhode Island, from 1985 until his retirement in 2023, first bravely disclosed his cancer diagnosis on Instagram in December 2023, expressing his determination to "fight with all I've got."
However, just a day before his peaceful passing, Caprio reached out to his loyal followers one last time in a poignant video message, requesting their continued support. He acknowledged that their encouragement had been a beacon of hope during his initial battle with the illness.
"Last year, I asked for your prayers," he said from his hospital bed, in a clip shared on Instagram on August 19th. "And it's evident that you did, for I navigated through a tumultuous chapter with your blessings by my side."
"Regrettably, I've encountered a new challenge," he continued, his voice tinged with resilience. "I'm coming to you again, humbly asking you to keep me in your prayers once more... I am a firm believer in the potency of prayer. I believe the Almighty watches over us all. So, please, remember me in your thoughts and prayers."
