Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, the iconic stars of the original film, were also rumored to be in talks to reprise their roles, although the studio has yet to officially confirm their participation or any other cast members. Disney has remained tight-lipped about Butters' potential casting as well.

Andrew Gunn, the producer of the 2003 hit, will be reuniting with former Disney executive Kristin Burr to bring this new chapter to life. Curtis and Lohan have been vocal about their desire for a 'Freaky Friday' sequel for years, and it seems their wishes are finally coming true.

"We would only make something that people would absolutely adore," Lohan told the New York Times in 2023, expressing her enthusiasm for the project. The pair celebrated the news of Ganatra's hiring on Instagram in March, further fueling speculation about the sequel.

The original 'Freaky Friday' film, a remake of the 1977 classic starring Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster, was based on Mary Rodgers' 1972 novel. Directed by Mark Waters from a script by Heather Hach and Leslie, the 2003 movie grossed over $160.8 million worldwide, received rave reviews from critics, and has since become a cult classic, leaving a lasting impression on moviegoers.
