Julia Roberts has elaborated on why the remake of the beloved romantic comedy "Pretty Woman" is an insurmountable task. The actress shared her thoughts with Deadline, stating, "I've accumulated so many years of life experiences that I wouldn't be able to effortlessly float in a movie like that anymore. You know? It's not just the weight of the world, but all the knowledge and experiences we accumulate throughout our journey."

Roberts further noted that she couldn't revisit the innocence of her "Pretty Woman" character, explaining, "There was an innocence to her character, a purity that comes with being young. It would be challenging to portray someone who is genuinely innocent in today's context."

Furthermore, Julia Roberts highlighted the "cultural shifts" that have occurred since the original film's release, making it challenging for modern audiences to accept the story. "You have to consider the passage of time and the cultural shifts that have taken place. Look at movies and plays from the '20s, '30s, and '40s – if you saw them now, you'd wonder how people could say and do those things," said the actress.

"Pretty Woman" is a tale of a young sex worker, played by Julia Roberts, who falls in love with her client, portrayed by Richard Gere.
