Xavier Trudeau is neither cold nor hot about Katy Perry. Two months after the "California Gurls" singer officially launched her relationship with Justin Trudeau, the former Canadian Prime Minister's son shared his thoughts on their romance. "She's cool, she's nice," Xavier told G Hobs in a Feb. 21 Instagram video. "We talked for hours, discussing my music. She gave me advice and next steps for me."
This invaluable guidance was especially significant for the 18-year-old, who is pursuing his own music career under the moniker Xav. "I've always loved music, whether it's creating it or listening to it," he explained on The Brandon Gonez Show podcast in May. "I've always had a passion for it."

Justin and his estranged wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, who also share children Ella-Grace Trudeau, 17, and Hadrien Trudeau, 11, had put their eldest in music classes, including drumming, guitar, and piano. A few years ago, Xavier decided to try making some beats to record on his phone. Since then, he's been making R&B music. "They've been supportive since the beginning," he said. "Every time I come back from the studio, I'd have something to show them and we'd sit at dinner and listen to it like, 'Oh, I like this. I don't like that.'"
"They love it," he continued. "They're happy for me. They're happy that I'm choosing my own path in life." With music being such a force of connection in the Trudeau household, it's no surprise that Justin was seen moving and grooving at Katy's Montreal show in July. But it was their dinner two days prior that raised eyebrows about a possible relationship.
Although romance rumors swirled, neither Justin—who separated from his wife in 2023—nor Katy had addressed them until the "Last Friday Night" singer confirmed their relationship on Instagram five months later. At the time, Katy—mom to 4-year-old daughter Daisy Dove Bloom with ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom—had been navigating her new chapter as a single mom. But she and the Lord of the Rings alum only have love for one another.
"I'm so grateful," Orlando shared on Today in September after wrapping filming on The Cut. "We've got a beautiful daughter. When you leave everything on the field like I did in this movie, I feel grateful for all of it."
"We're gonna be great," the actor—also dad to son Flynn, 15, with ex-wife Miranda Kerr—concluded. "It's nothing but love."
