Kaley Cuoco is gracefully navigating the dual demands of her thriving acting career and the responsibilities of parenthood. Recently, she was faced with a pivotal decision when a significant work opportunity arose. Despite her affinity for television thrillers, she grappled with whether the timing was appropriate for her family. In a heartfelt new interview, the actress candidly shared the emotional turmoil of being a working parent. She recounted how she ultimately made a difficult choice for her young daughter.
According to PEOPLE, Kaley Cuoco was initially "uncertain" about taking on a role in the new MGM+ miniseries, Vanished. The project necessitated a two-month filming stint in Marseille, France. At the time, her daughter Matilda had just turned two years old. Cuoco expressed considerable apprehension about leaving her toddler behind, even inquiring if the production could be relocated closer to home. However, she recognized that the authentic French scenery was integral to the story's authenticity.

The actress attributed her fiancé, Tom Pelphrey, as her biggest supporter. He encouraged her to embrace the opportunity, assuring her it would be an exhilarating adventure. Despite his encouragement, Cuoco struggled with whether to bring Matilda along. She decided to fly to France alone initially to assess the environment. After just 24 hours in Marseille, she realized the city's "hectic" and "stressful" atmosphere was unsuitable for a small child. Her rental house was located on a mountain with limited walking options.
Trusting her instincts, she concluded that it would be best for Matilda to remain with her family in the U.S. To ease the transition, Cuoco brought a piece of home with her by taking her Chihuahua, Opal. The locals in France even bestowed the dog with the French nickname "Opolette."
By the end of the shoot, Cuoco felt immeasurably grateful for the time she had taken for herself. She told PEOPLE that she was relieved to have immersed herself in her work while knowing her daughter was secure and happy at home.
