Kaley Cuoco harbors an enduring fondness for her iconic role in The Big Bang Theory, as she intimately shared with PEOPLE in an exclusive chat. The 38-year-old actress reminisced about her 12-year journey as Penny, revealing, "Those years on the CBS sitcom were the launchpad for my career, and I am deeply indebted to that character, the show, and its visionary creator, Chuck Lorre. They constitute not just a milestone but also some of the most vibrant and joy-filled chapters of my life."

When probed about the possibility of reprising Penny's character, Cuoco enthusiastically confirmed, "Absolutely, in a heartbeat. One hundred percent, I would relish the chance to step into her shoes again. That character holds a special place in my heart, forever and always."

The Big Bang Theory, which tracked the antics of a gang of science enthusiasts in California, captivated audiences from 2007 to 2019, racking up an impressive tally of 10 Emmy Awards. Alongside Cuoco, the ensemble cast boasted Jim Parsons, Mayim Bialik, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, and Johnny Galecki, among others.

The franchise extended its reach with Young Sheldon, a prequel centered on Parsons' Sheldon Cooper, premiering in 2017 and wrapping up earlier this year. Its momentum continued with the launch of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage on October 17, further expanding the universe. Meanwhile, whispers of a Max spinoff featuring Kevin Sussman, Brian Posehn, and Lauren Lapkus from The Big Bang Theory's universe are also circulating in industry circles.

But Cuoco's creative plate is full with another passion project - the eagerly awaited second season of Based on a True Story on Peacock. This series delves into the antics of a trio - a realtor, a former tennis pro, and a plumber - who capitalize on America's insatiable appetite for true crime stories. "I'm thrilled to bits about it," she exclaimed to PEOPLE. "Season 1 was a blast to shoot, and I have no doubt that Season 2 surpasses it in every way. It's hilarious, it's edgy, and I can't wait for audiences to experience it."

The Big Bang Theory is now accessible for binge-watching on Max, while Based on a True Story's second season premieres exclusively on Peacock on November 21.
