Kandi Burruss is candidly discussing her coparenting arrangement with her ex-husband, Todd Tucker. After spending the holidays together with their two children, Ace, 10, and Blaze, 6, the former 'Real Housewives of Atlanta' star opened up about their shared goal as coparents since announcing their split in November. "We've determined that no matter what, we'll always be great coparents for our kids," Kandi, 49, said in the Jan. 16 episode of 'Today With Jenna & Sheinelle.' "So that means that, you know, we'll spend holidays together sometimes because we're still a family, even though he and I have decided to go our separate ways."

Kandi—who also shares daughter Riley Burruss, 21, with ex-husband Russell Spencer—added, "And we're trying to make it as easy as possible for our children." The "No Scrubs" songwriter also noted how her latest role in Broadway's 'Romeo & Juliet' has allowed her to take her mind off her heartbreak. "It has been the best therapy for me because sometimes you have to have something to focus on to keep your mind out of a sad place," she explained. "And so, for me, it's like singing, performing, learning to be better, making myself better, working out more, working on my vocals, doing everything that I'm supposed to do to make sure I'm the best I can be on stage in front of everybody."
She continued, "While behind the scenes I might be breaking down, but I have to keep it together and it gives me motivation." Kandi's comments come months after announcing that she and Todd, 52, would be parting ways after 11 years of marriage. At the time, she also emphasized how the couple's children would always come first.
"After deep thought and a lot of prayer, I've made the decision to move forward with a divorce," Kandi shared in a Nov. 21 statement to People. "This is a difficult and emotional time, but my focus remains on protecting my peace, being the best mother I can be, and co-parenting with love and respect." The "Bills, Bills, Bills" hitmaker also added that she was "stepping into a new chapter pouring into my work, my family, and my own growth."
"I'm grateful to everyone who supported us throughout the years," Kandi noted, "and I ask for privacy, grace, and understanding as we navigate this transition with our family."
