On Tuesday, just over three minutes into his conversation with British journalist Piers Morgan on the latter's "Uncensored" show, Kanye West abruptly stormed off, the dispute stemming from a disagreement about the rapper's follower count on X, the former Twitter platform. West, who had been on a months-long spree of posting hateful and antisemitic remarks on his account amidst teasing and releasing new music, joined the program remotely from a luxurious residence overlooking the ocean in Majorca, Spain, accompanied by social media personality Sneako.
Morgan inquired about the state of West's life, to which West replied cryptically, urging him to "judge it by the view as the answer to how my life is." Morgan countered by stating that West's answer stood in "direct contrast to your public image at the moment." However, West interrupted before Morgan could finish, delivering further antisemitic-tinged comments about being "attacked by the banks."
"I already disagree; it's not in contrast," West declared. "Countless artists have championed the idea of expressing one's true self despite being attacked by the banks—that's the best way to put it. To still be here, enjoying this view, is the win. I'm in stark contrast to your perceived contrast."
Morgan then shifted the conversation to West's posts on X, noting that he had 32 million followers. West responded with a sharp remark: "You're not going to diminish my manhood, bro," before urging Morgan to verify his follower count. Morgan's staff informed him that West actually had 33 million followers, prompting Morgan to sarcastically congratulate him.
West then proudly dubbed himself a "gift" and questioned why "all of you in the media act as though you haven't played my songs at weddings, graduations, funerals, or the birth of your children?" "That level of nuance is absurd," West continued. "It exposes the hatred you harbor towards those who spread love. My art is imbued with so much love."
Morgan, seemingly baffled, responded, "What are you talking about? I haven't said anything." He assured West that he had played his music. West, however, accused Morgan of not taking "accountability or responsibility" and informed him, "This is all you get for now. We can revisit this when you can count." With that, West rose from his seat, leaving Morgan alone with Sneako, who confirmed, "That's it for Ye," before proceeding to converse with Morgan on his own.
