Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman, the stars of the critically acclaimed "Song Sung Blue," celebrated their monumental victory together at the 2025 Gotham Awards' inaugural Gotham Musical Tribute. As they graced the red carpet, the duo spoke to People Magazine about the lessons they learned from each other during their collaborative journey.

Kate shared, "Hugh's superpower is his ability to connect. Whether it's on stage, on set, or with anyone and everyone, he just wants to make a connection and ensure everyone's happiness." She further noted, "I learned that one of the greatest gifts you can give people is the desire to connect with them. And I think you give that to everyone, even though I'm sure it takes a lot from you. You're like a constant energy giver, a masseuse for other people's souls."
Hugh, standing beside her, added, "I learned a lot from Kate. Specifically, I learned about acting in film. I've done almost 50 films, but working with Kate is a unique experience. It's hard to describe, but the combination of being prepared and instinctive is a delicate balance that Kate masterfully navigates. Being with her made me a better actor."
He continued, "There were two key moments when she stood up for the film, even though it was inconvenient for everyone. But those moments are crucial in the movie now. It's about picking your battles and knowing when to say 'no' and disagree. I learned that from Kate because she's sweet, kind, and always great. When Kate Hudson says 'I think this is a mistake, we should go left and not right,' everyone stops and listens."
As Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson kick off the awards season with their big win for "Song Sung Blue," Kate is also receiving Oscar buzz for her role. Responding to the award buzz, Kate said, "You never know with these things. I've been in this industry long enough to know that it's a pleasure to see people loving the movie." She added, "Just show up where they tell me to go."
