Kate Hudson had the golden opportunity to take on the role of Mary Jane Watson in Tobey Maguire's iconic Spider-Man film, but she passed it up for another equally enthralling endeavor. During an episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen on Monday, December 22, she shared, "It's not a comfortable conversation to have because the people who ended up in the movie are the perfect fit for their roles, and life circumstances unfold as they may." She added with a hint of nostalgia, "Looking back, I think it would have been exhilarating to be a part of a Spider-Man movie."

The star of Almost Famous confessed that while she has no regrets about her decision, turning down the superhero film led to a once-in-a-lifetime encounter. "But at the same time, I did a movie called Four Feathers, where I had the pleasure of working alongside Heath Ledger, who became a dear friend. That experience would have been unimaginable without it," she continued. "Part of me thinks, 'Life unfolds exactly as it should.' I'm grateful for it, but I can't help but think, 'Ah, it would have been thrilling to be [Mary Jane].'"

Four Feathers, released in September 2002, was a war drama based on the 1902 novel by A. E. W. Mason. Hudson and Ledger shared the screen with Djimon Hounsou and Yellowstone's Wes Bentley. Despite mixed reviews from critics and a box office take of just $29 million against its $35 million budget, the film remains a testament to the power of the human spirit and the enduring friendship that can blossom under challenging circumstances.

In January 2008, Ledger was found unresponsive in his Manhattan apartment and pronounced dead at the scene. The Dark Knight actor was just 28 years old, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire and touch hearts long after his passing.
