Supermodel Kate Upton is seeking legal counsel amid an apparent crisis, posting a plea for advice on her Instagram Story on Friday, November 15th. "A heartfelt query to lawyers, judges, advocates, and parents alike: A father, freshly out of rehabilitation, is venturing solo with his 10-year-old daughter," wrote the 32-year-old Upton. "He indulges in alcohol and pills, boasts about carrying a gun, and threatens to shoot the taxi driver if he doesn't abandon them on the highway at midnight, forcing them to walk home."
She continued passionately, "Fortunately, the taxi driver, brave and steadfast, refuses to comply, preferring to face a bullet rather than leave the innocent child stranded on the highway. Is this a dire emergency? A grievous crime? Would you tremble with fear for your own child in such a perilous situation?" Upton thoughtfully incorporated a "Feedback" section in her post, inviting social media users to share their thoughts and perspectives.
Upton hasn't elaborated further on her message or disclosed the identity of the individual she's referring to. Her openness about her family life is well-documented; she shares a 5-year-old daughter, Genevieve, affectionately known as "Vivi," with her husband, Justin Verlander.
During a 2021 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Upton praised her husband's deep bond with Vivi, stating, "He's incredibly involved. He's the ultimate partner. However, he's not quite the best dog dad; he barely assists with Norman, but took charge of almost every night shift with Vivi. So, I'm still a bit resentful about that!"
Verlander, 41, shares an equal admiration for Upton as a mother. "She's been an extraordinary woman and mother," the MLB star exclusively told Us Weekly in March 2019. "I knew she would set a wonderful example for our daughter, come what may. It's just her nature, the person I married. I've always admired her for her strength."
He added at that time, "Witnessing her nurturing and the profound bond of motherhood has been incredible. I understand it's not easy for her, but the connection they share is unique, and it's deeply special for me to be part of it."
Upton and Verlander have been married since 2017. Earlier this year, she provided a glimpse into their family life with Vivi. "She loves dressing up with me. I believe she has better fashion sense than Justin and me; she chooses all her own outfits," Upton jokes to People in April. "This delights me, as clothes are a creative expression of oneself, and I'm thrilled she's discovered that at her tender age. She's increasingly becoming her true self, and I cherish it."
