In the realm of The Voice, some individuals wait an entire lifetime for their shining moment. As Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and John Legend return as coaches for the show's impending 29th season, a new flavor is being infused into the mix with the introduction of The Voice: Battle of Champions, premiering on February 23, 2026.
For the very first time, the coaches will engage in a thrilling "Triple Turn Competition" during the blind auditions, where they will strive to secure the most three-chair turns. The coach who emerges victorious will be awarded a "Super Steal" for the battles round, granting them the power to veto other coaches' attempts to recruit an artist.

But that's not all. Each coach will also bring back two artists from their previous teams for head-to-head sing-offs during the knockouts. The coach with the most sing-off wins is guaranteed a spot in the second season 29 finalists.
Moreover, a new "voting block" will be established, comprising past The Voice artists and super-fans of the show. They will have the privilege to join the in-studio audience and vote in real-time for their season 29 competitors during the semi-finals and finale.
This change in show format follows the introduction of the Carson Callback Card by host Carson Daly in the ongoing season 28. This brand-new power allowed the longtime emcee—who has been at the helm since the show's debut in 2011—to give artist Ryan Mitchell a second chance at auditioning for the coaches, with Reba McEntire ultimately recruiting him onto her team.
The current season has also witnessed the debut of the Mic Drop button, allowing coaches to select one artist from their respective teams to vie for the opportunity to perform at The Rose Parade on January 1. So far, Michael Bublé has utilized the button on his team member Max Chambers, while Niall Horan has recently selected trio DEK of Hearts.
