The renowned American actress Keri Russell has recently shared a heartfelt insight into the beauty standards that prevail in Hollywood. In a candid conversation with PEOPLE, the 49-year-old star of The Diplomat, the Netflix political drama's third season, confessed, "I'm completely empathetic." She elaborates, "Being a woman is such a peculiar experience," mainly because everyone seems to have an "opinion about the way you look, the way you dress, the way your hair is."
Keri opens up about this topic being a frequent conversation among her and her friends. "Plastic surgery is having a moment right now—men, women, 20-year-olds. I mean, it's everywhere," she shares with the outlet.
The actress from August Rush mentions being "inundated with these movie stars. Even though they might be 50 or 60 years old, they look amazing." Keri argues that she watches the show and admires the way she looks on it, finding it remarkable. "I feel like that's strange, like that's a unique thing to look like that, but it is," remarks the Waitress actress.
Reflecting on her character in the show, Keri further says, "It's just the nature of our society. But I also find it really enjoyable; it's like a fun thing to play." Before concluding, the actress adds, "I love how cranky she is about it and how she's always trying to fight people about it, and is rude about it. I find it delightful."
Meanwhile, season three of The Diplomat is currently streaming on Netflix.
