Kevin Costner has recently taken a bold stance against the sexual harassment allegations leveled against him by Horizon. On August 18th, the Hollywood legend submitted a resounding declaration in L.A.'s Superior Court, emphatically denying Devyn LaBella's accusation of an "unscripted rape scene" in one of his Horizon films, branding it as "an outrageous falsehood."
In his scathing 70-word motion, Costner declared, "Devyn's allegations against me are utterly baseless, and it deeply saddens me that a member of our production team would falsely accuse me or any other crew member of making anyone feel uneasy, much less enduring the fantastical 'nightmare' she has conjured up."
Costner further noted, "I firmly believe that Devyn's claims, peppered with untruths and sensationalist language, were deliberately crafted to tarnish my reputation." He alleged, "These patently false accusations can only be seen as an attempt to exploit sensationalism to embarrass me and undermine the Horizon films."
Addressing the allegations that include the words "rape" and "assault," Costner revealed that the ordeal has been an "unmitigated nightmare, exacting a heavy toll—both financially and personally." With unwavering determination, he declared, "I will steadfastly defend myself and my crew against these spurious claims."
Intriguingly, other collaborators who worked alongside Costner on the Western film's controversial scene have also filed declarations, urging the court to dismiss Devyn's case. In a declaration appended to his motion, Costner, the star of Field of Dreams, included dozens of on-set photos of Devyn. He elucidated that the scene in question was "a buildup and preview of two violent rape scenes that transpire off-screen," supported by "twelve witnesses."
