The Kardashian family stands as a testament to unwavering sibling support. In the March 6th installment of "The Kardashians," Kim, now 44, unveiled the heartfelt present she curated for her sister Khloé to celebrate her 40th birthday. Reflecting on their cherished childhood moments, the SKIMS empire builder recounted a poignant tale of Khloé's selflessness.
"When Khloé was just a tot, around 4 or 5 years old, she acquired this colossal piggy bank shaped like a Coke bottle, towering over us. We meticulously filled it with our pennies and nickels," Kim reminisced. "During my tumultuous first divorce, when I was broke and living out of a suitcase at 21, Khloé handed me that very Coke bottle and said, 'Here, take what's inside.'"
Khloé recounted a poignant moment, recalling how Kim was "sobbing in my room," as she herself came to the realization that she could use her own money to lend support to her sister, who was then engulfed in the turbulent aftermath of her divorce from Damon Thomas."I was determined," Khloé, the founder of Good American, recounted. "'Let's empty this Coke bottle, march to the bank, cash it in, and use the money to ease your divorce burden.'"
Kim elaborated, "We counted every penny through the night and discovered a whopping $6,000, sufficient for my apartment's down payment and my first and last month's rent."
"I gave her all I had, hoping it would make a difference," Khloé said, her voice tinged with sentimentality over the gesture.
Years have since turned the Kardashians into a global phenomenon, prompting Kim to devise a heartwarming repayment. "For Khloé's birthday, I tracked down an identical Coke bottle piggy bank, filled it to the brim, and presented it to her with a heartfelt 'Thank you,'" she shared. "She handed over her life savings when she was 21."
"She was astounded that I remembered the Coke bottle," Kim added with a chuckle. "And I thought, 'How could I ever forget?'"
In 2000, Kim eloped with music producer Damon Thomas when she was just 19 and he was 29. Their marriage crumbled after three years. Kim later claimed their wedding took place during a drug-induced "wild phase," although Thomas refuted these assertions, describing their union as "young love."
Kim went on to marry Kris Humphries in 2011, only to divorce him after 72 days. She then tied the knot with Kanye West in 2014, with whom she shares four children. They filed for divorce in 2021, following years of turbulence exacerbated by West's erratic behavior in 2016. Though she refrains from publicly commenting on the rapper, she has addressed his online attacks and allegations against her family in previous episodes of "The Kardashians."
"It's excruciating to witness someone you once adored and shared a family with transform into a stranger," she confessed in July 2023. "At times, I ponder if his journey to rock bottom is something he must navigate alone. In the past, I'd scramble to reassure everyone, 'It's gonna be OK, just give him another chance.'"
"Now, I'm just devoid of that energy," the reality star lamented.
