Khloé Kardashian's daughter, True, remains blissfully unaware that her parents are no longer together, and the doting mother of two has no intention of shattering that illusion just yet. In this week's installment of "The Kardashians," the co-founder of Good American prepares to celebrate her landmark 40th birthday at a Dolly Parton-inspired bash. Prior to the festivities, Kardashian is seen cruising with her bestie, Malika Haqq, as they engage in a heartfelt conversation about their unmarried status.
"True believes Tristan and I are married," Kardashian remarks at one point, referring to her ex, Tristan Thompson. Haqq responds thoughtfully, "It's probably best for her. She wouldn't comprehend it anyway. It's alright."
"In my view, that's the right way to go – get married, start a family. That's what I want to model for her," Kardashian shares.
During a confessional segment, Kardashian delves deeper, acknowledging that while there's a small part of her that's troubled by True's misconception about her relationship with Tristan, she's content to shield her children from the complexities of adult life. "True thinks Tristan and I are married. The only thing that gnaws at me is the prospect of her growing up with a skewed perception of marriage," she explains. "Thinking that being married means someone doesn't live with you, you never kiss or share a bed."
"I yearn for my kids to witness me with a husband someday, to see love, affection, and romance in action," Kardashian continues. "I want them to experience that. When she's older, I'll explain everything to her. But for now, I firmly believe that children shouldn't be burdened with adult issues. You do what's best for them."
Kardashian co-parents her two-year-old son, Tatum, and daughter, True, with Thompson. Their tumultuous relationship spanned several years before they ultimately parted ways in June 2021, following Kardashian's discovery that Tristan was expecting a child with another woman that December.
