Kim Kardashian is shedding light on the state of her relationship with her ex-husband, Kanye West. On Thursday, February 5th, the 45-year-old spoke with Complex and shared how her bond with West has evolved since their divorce.

The couple first met in 2012 and tied the knot in 2014. Their union produced four children: North, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 6. Despite their separation in 2021, which was finalized in 2022, Kardashian emphasized that they will always be a family.

"We'll always be family," she told the outlet when asked about promoting West's Yeezy boots in a January TikTok. "We both know that. We'll be okay, and there's so much love for our family. We want what's best for our kids."

As for the Yeezy boots, Kardashian explained, "I couldn't deny the Yeezy heel, so I had to shout it out." In the TikTok, she showcased how she styled an outfit during an Aspen trip and highlighted the boots, saying, "I will say, there's nothing like a Yeezy heel. I don't know if they ever made these or just made them for me. I love when a shoe is tonal to the pant."

Kardashian's recent comments about their family dynamic come after she candidly spoke about her struggles with the rapper. "I was pretty tested, I will say. Very tested," she said on an October 2025 episode of Hulu's The Kardashians. "I have psoriasis again. I felt it. I felt more stressed, probably just because I had to super, super protect what I had to protect. My kids are involved now."

"Everyone around can handle it, but like…protect my babies," she added. "They're gonna know things. They're gonna grow up. They're gonna see."

In January, West apologized for his erratic behavior and deeply antisemitic rants in an open letter titled "To Those I've Hurt" — a full-page advertisement (paid for by his Yeezy brand) in The Wall Street Journal. In his apology, West claimed that bipolar disorder caused his erratic behavior and turn to antisemitism.

Kardashian has shared how West's behavior has been stressful for her. In a September episode of The Kardashians, she revealed that she was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm, and doctors said "stress" may have been the cause. After revealing the aneurysm, the episode cut to a tearful Kardashian discussing her divorce from West. "I'm happy it's over," she said. "My ex will be in my life no matter what. We have four kids together."

In a November episode of The Kardashians, Kardashian revealed that despite his claims of calling their children, he "never once called." "I always encourage a relationship, but a healthy one," she said, adding that it's "frustrating that my character as a mom" comes into question because of his erratic behavior. "Sometimes I just feel like snapping, but I can’t. I just can’t." In a confessional, Kim added, "My only focus and job is really just to be strong for my kids."
